Dana 44 axle seal

I've replaced the driver side rear axle seal twice now in about 25,000 miles. Now, in about 2000 it's leaking again. I've used new bearings sleeves and seals both times. Am I missing something in the reassembly that is causing a short service life?

Re: Dana 44 axle seal

Welcome to the garage.
Is there any play on the axle side which leaks? Or is there any (even very light) damage to the sealing surface of the axle?

Re: Dana 44 axle seal

There is no wear on the axle and a very slight amount of play. I'm thinking that once the axle is in place that I should make sure that the seal is fully seated in the bore. I'm hoping that the seal is ok and the fluid is leaking past the outer edge of the seal.
