diy oil change

just bought 07 4.7 laredo to drive for a year or so. plan on doing service work myself. now needing oil change, transmission service (fluid and filters), and rear brakes. is that info available here. if so, how do u get to it? bought a haynes, pretty useless to me, already took it back. 4 volume jeep books too expensive. any help would be appreciated.

Re: diy oil change

welcome! there are how to threads on here for all of that stuff, just do a search of the site. out of everything you mentioned....... i do all of that myself as it is pretty simple. i only pay my dealer to do the transmission for me. doing all the other stuff yourself is cheaper and you can use better parts and fluids. rear brakes are cake, you can do it yourself just by pulling the wheel and looking at it. evern with no prior knowledge, it is simple to figure out.

Re: diy oil change

thanks. transmission seems like might be a big mess, but really don't have a choice right now. local guy wanted $175, seemed too high. i imagine dealer would want more, plus they love to stick it to dumb girls. been there, don't wanna go back.

Jeep dealers have it down to a science, its cheaper than you would expect.

Re: diy oil change

transmission looks like a bear. may have to wait till it warms up a bit and i can ride my scooter in case i get mechanical lockjaw. and it looks like i need 2 more jack stands. i'm not really comfortable under a car on jack stands. actually i'm not real comfortable under a car, but choices are limited. any safety tips?

Re: diy oil change

car dealers may have the science down, but i always leave feeling like a botched experiment, and with a lot less money.
