Doin some research

Soooooooo i've been drooling over the JK Rubi Unlimited since it came out. Test drove them multiple times and loved them. Been 150% set on getting one...............until the other day. Made a 10 hr trip in my wifes car, which gets great gas mileage, but sucks for tall people like myself. So I started looking into an 07-08 WK with the CRD. I found one at the local carmax and went to drive it. I went in with hopes that I would drive it, hate it, and the choice would be easy for me to pick up the rubi unlimited when finances would allow.

Unfortuantely......... I LOVED IT! Tons of torque and that thing was super quick compared to my lifted 2kXJ. Directly after I went and test drove a brand new sahara unlimited and that thing felt completely gutless. I meant to check, but didn't. I would have to venture to guess it didn't have the 4.10's in it. Anywho, so what it comes down to is chances are when it comes time to purchase I'll get either the diesel WK or rubi unlimited(both have their pros and cons) what it's really going to come down to is what I can find for the best price when it's time to buy. In the meantime I figured I'd find out as much about them as possible. So far I've seen the typical complaints for diesel owners and a provent being installed to circumvent those issues.

From what I can tell I am looking to have to put about 3k+ in each one to make it what I want. To make a long post longer....those that are still reading at this point I'll explain.

WK Install/replace
Wheels/tires- hate the stockers for the diesel(limited or overland) wish the rubi wheels would fit. Need AT tires at a minimum. Can't stand those soccer mom street tires it has.
Lift- stock WK is way too low. NO idea what a 2" lift would cost and if I would have issues. My XJ I had to do all kinds of stuff just to make it acceptable on the road for just a 2" lift.
Lockpick- at a minimum.

JK
Katzkin covers/heated seats- I have leather/heated seats in my XJ and want it in my next vehicle
Lockpick- At a minimum

wow that was long.

Oh and I am from/in the central portion of NC.

Welcome!
I love the JK Rubicon. There's a 'maroon' one on my block and it looks great with top off. Of course I'm crazy enough to want to drop a 5.7L HEMI into a JK and have some fun

I think that's prolly the only way a JK would be tolerable getting up to highway speeds.

Re: Doin some research

It boggled my mind that Jeep decided to make the 3.8 the only option for the wrangler. Especially the 4 door. Welcome and good luck on your search, by the way!
