Experience with Painting Calipers

Hey folks, wanted to know if anybody has painted their calipers with products like G2 ceramic paint etc. Called for prices for either painting or powder coating and the prices at pretty steep to change the color.. lol

Been watching Youtube, and doesn't seem to be too difficult, just need to remove wheels and clean calipers but appears to be an all day type of thing.

Thanks

Re: Experience with Painting Calipers

Did mine few weeks back. I used G2. I have painted calipers before with other products, but the G2 by far is the best. Covers easily - although I used black - and flows out to what looks to be a very durable and shiny finish. You get 1 can of brake cleaner with the kit but I would recommend getting at least a couple more cans. I used a small wire brush and brushed as I sprayed the cleaner then did one more final spray. The kit also comes with a very small brush - I guess for tight areas. I bought a regular 1 1/4" paint brush and trimmed the bristles to about 1" long to paint the larger areas. I bought 2 kits thinking I would need both but was able to do all 4 calipers and rotor hats with 2 coats using 1 kit. Took all weekend. An hour or so to clean and let dry, an hour or so to paint each coat and then you have to not drive the vehicle for 24 hours.

Thanks for the feedback... I know the time commitment might be a pain. I opted for the easy way this round. MGP caliper covers. See how they look before taking the plunge.

Let me know how the durability is on the G2

Re: Experience with Painting Calipers

I did the calipers on the TBSS twice. Once in a stock blue, then the other in Inferno Orange Metallic. Key with G2 is prep. Make sure it's super clean, and also....

PICK UP A SET OF BRUSHES FROM HOBBY LOBBY.

Makes it much easier.

Re: Experience with Painting Calipers

HI there,

In Amazon, look for the following: "
VHT SP731 Real Red Brake Caliper Paint Can"

I used that, very easy to work with, and looks very good, I had caliper covers before, but painted red look much better, at least to me.
Rgds.

Re: Experience with Painting Calipers

G2 is an epoxy...I'd use it.
