First time Jeep owner - all tidbits welcome
Just picked up a 1996 Grand Cherokee Limited as a winter car. Decided that the Pontiac G6 hardtop convertible was just too nice to subject to Western NY winter. Overall runs well. After 45 minutes of driving, it seems like drivers wheel is sticking. After it sits and cools for an hour, it is back to normal. Also stayed OK while raining to provide cooling. I'm going to venture a guess of wheel bearing. Any other input? The power distribution display does not function, but is it necessary? Also, the A/C compressor seems bad, but as a winter car, it is not necessary. Would it make sense to void the system of freon so compressor clutch will not engage? Kind of surprised that it drives like a 4WD vehicle. Expected Quadra-Trac would seem more like regular car. Can the power distribution display being out leave the system in full time 4WD? That would explain why it handles like a 4WD all the time. And as a winter vehicle, is there any down side to leaving it as is? Thanks for any feedback.
