Greetings from the Garden State

Just saying "Hi". Picked up a 2002 Grand Cherokee on Friday. My first Jeep and my first American car since my very first car. Bought this to replace a '96 Volvo 850 wagon, which I loved, but which did not love me back, as it seemed to constantly be needing one repair or another. Decided to go for a WJ so I could get the 4.0L engine because it has such a good reputation for being pretty bulletproof.

Haven't driven it much yet as I'm doing some general maintenance and a few other minor fixes first, but so far I'm very happy.

Re: Greetings from the Garden State

It's a Limited in Onyx Green Pearl with Taupe interior. I'm the second owner and it's only got 87,000 miles. Haven't driven too far as I want to go through and change oil, plugs, transfer case oil, etc. since I don't know when they were last done. I generally tend to do that whenever I buy a used car.

I also had to replace all the hood, hatch and rear window struts (all dead) as well as the driver's door mirror. Just to spruce it up a little I replaced the Jeep badges that were looking pretty sad and I'm waiting for new headlights to arrive. I tried polishing up the originals but they just weren't getting any better. I figure after 14 years, and considering how inexpensive they were, it seemed worth it.

Need to do a little repair work on a tear in the driver's seat and door panel but other than that the interior is in great shape.
