Hi all, my name is Jim, I live in Melbourne Beach Florida and I just joined the forum, although I have been visiting it from time to time for several years. I recently sold my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a 5.7 engine. I had a Magnaflow catback on it and a K&N FIPK, and LOVED the sound of it when you got on it. It definitely had a musclecar sound to it. I recently purchased a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Altitude edition with a 5.7, and had planned on on making the same mods to it, but decided to do a little research first. In reading your member responses to the threads associated with aftermarket exhaust systems, the big complaint associated with the Magnaflow, Flowmaster and Borla exhaust systems was the in-cabin drone that was experienced when the engine was running in the ECO mode. I definitely did not want a system with that issue, as I have a system on my 2002 Firehawk that has a bad drone at certain rpms, but with a 6-speed manual tranny you can go up a gear of down a gear and get rid of it. Not so easy with an automatic, and I didn't want to run around all the time in the Tow/Haul mode.
I did some research on the MoPar Performance Parts catback and pretty much everyone reported no drone with it at any speed, and then reading in your forum found out that Corsa made that system for MoPar Performance Parts. Someone I know that owns a muffler shop tried to discourage me from buying the Corsa, stating that they were cheaply made and tinny sounding, but he is a distributor for Magnaflow and Flowmaster, so I took that advice with a grain of salt. I did some extensive research on the construction of the these 4 systems and the materials and construction of the Corsa system ranks pretty much at the top in all aspects.
Bottom line, I bought the Corsa system, had it installed today, and love the sound of it. No drone whatsoever when running in the ECO mode, and in fact the factory system had a slight drone when running in that mode, and that is now gone. Tomorrow I'll install the K&N, and looking forward to seeing how the two systems will complement each other.
So thanks to your members who helped me to make an educated decision on this purchase, and will be looking to them in the future for other performance mod ideas.
