Unhappy Hello...another new guy here

We own 2 grand cherokees. A 2016 limited thats loaded up with every option including off road package, and a loaded 2017 Grand Cherokee trail hawk. Both have the 3.6.
The 2017 is turning into a headache. First the trim around the windows needed replacing because it wasnt fastened properly, tray in glove box was warped and scraping against the glove box door, plugs for the 12v outlets were too big.
Noisey lifters and rockers had to be replaced. It still ticks a good bit but they say its normal.
The other day, at 5 am I needed gas, so I swing into a station, only to find out the fuel door wont open. Straight to the dealer where they located the emergency release in the back left under the cubby hole. Ordered parts to repair.
Today when driving home I exited the freeway and as I came to a stop it very harshly drops into first with a loud clunck, and did it every time I came to a stop sign on the way to the dealer. This just started "out of the blue" It put out two codes for the transmission, so they re programmed it and told me on the phone they "think" its fixed. It also put out a code for something to do with the back up sensors, but they cant figure out what the deal is with that. These two jeeps are the first ones weve owned. The 16 seemed pretty good, my wife likes it, so I bought another. Im beginning to have regrets. I think they should replace the 17 with one that doesnt taste so much like a lemon. So, I own a paid for $49,225 GC trail hawk....and I dont have wheels for the holiday weekend. Anyone else having issues?

Jim - I have had my 17 Trailhawk for only 3 weeks now and almost 1k miles and so far none of the issues that you report. But it's certainly concerning the volume of bugs you've had. How many miles on yours? I hope you keep us up to date on the dealer resolutions.

Re: Hello...another new guy here

astorer5 - Its got a little over 2300 miles on it. I got it in October 2016, probably the first run of 17's. The dealer I am working with seems to be doing their best to resolve the issues. When the lifter issue came up they escalated it to Chrysler, and they were good about returning calls and getting that issue fixed. I am in contact with Chrysler again and so far the person Im dealing with seems to be determined to solve the problems. When I left a message the rep returned call, as she has done previously. The car is at the dealer now, and service dept has the day off (long new year weekend). Chrysler rep called this morning in response to a message I left Friday and it sounds like they want to take care of the issue one way or another. She said she would call me again tomorrow after talking to the dealer again. She said she would set me up with a loaner. We also have a 2016 Grand Cherokee Limited thats equiped almost exactly like the 17 trail hawk (GC trail hawk wasnt available for 16 so we ordered from factory with off road, towing, etc) and we have had no problems. That one has just under 9k miles on it. You probably got a good one.

Re: Hello...another new guy here

update: Its a little chilly here today, but still 18 degrees f. When I started the 17 GC with 3.6 pentastar this morning, it initially didnt sound too bad, until it ran for 3-5 seconds and what sounded like a lifter started hammering again. Sounds sort of like a spoon beating on a can,
It subsided to an acceptable level after two or three minutes but still very annoying especially when they have replaced the lifters already, I reported it to dealer and they asked if I want to make an appointment, which I declined since no new solutions were offered. This would be a very nice car if it werent so damn buggy. Im thinking I want a different one. They gave us extended warranties but we shouldnt be having to put up with this crap on a $49,325 car. I thinking I want a different one but Im guessing getting that to happen soon may be difficult.

Give the Jeep a break. I'm sure your joints don't feel great at 18 degrees either.

Silverbillit - I dont know where you are from but around here 18 above 0 is not very cold.
A new vehicle should not have ANY issues at those temperatures. Maybe 40 years ago, but not today.
- 30 (thats 30 below zero degrees Fahrenheit) is not unheard of, or that uncommon in Minnesota. I traded off a chevy on this jeep with 90,000 miles on it and it never had issues. From day 1 just change the oil regularly and thats it.
Unfortunately there arent many choices when it comes to a suv with actual off road capability now days.

I'm just outside of Chicago so I know cold.
I have a garage and remote start so can't say I've heard any unordinary noises from the engine.
