Smile Hello from Australia

Greetings to all Jeep owners from a first time Jeep owner in Melbourne Australia. I have just purchased a 2003 WJ 4.7 Grand Cherokee and hope to have it on the road soon.

Re: Hello from Australia

I have read lots of post but still cannot find the engine number on my 2003 4.7 grand Cherokee. I found a dot type stamp with 4.7 18/12/02 on the block behind the oil filler pipe. Any help would be appreciated I am hoping to get it registered next week but fear I w I'll get knocked back without a visual of the engine number.

Re: Hello from Australia

Thanks Bill but that link didn't help still looking some post say front lower right hand side others say rear left hand side near bell housing I'm afraid I will end up booking car into dealer and asking them to find it. Sounds dumb I know but have looked top and bottom both sides and have only found 4.7 18/12/02 etched behind the oil filler pipe.
Any thoughts?

Re: Hello from Australia

Greetings. Not sure if you've worked out where the engine# can be found, but if you pop the hood and lean over for a squiz, it will be located on 'your' left (which is the driver side)and on the block.- just behind the H20 pump and in the plane of the casting plug. Remember, it's on the block and thus, below the cylinder head. Good luck! Bright lite, rag and kero might be helpful.

Re: Hello from Australia

No worries. Had a look myself when checking the oil level and it seems the only way to view is from beneath. Follow the oil filler tube down and look for a flat part of the block casting as described previously. Note: a perpendicular line drawn from the 'flat' would aim at your RF tyre/brake caliper area ( approx.) Good luck!

Nah no luck the only numbers there are right behind the idler pully on a machined plane below the oil filler pipe with the 4.7 and date. Still looking though !!!

Re: Hello from Australia

Oh Geez!
Some help I am!
Here's two pages from my well worn Haynes manual-covers GC's from '93-2004 and worth every penny. The 'key' to rego and ordering parts is the VIN. Good onya!
