Hello, new member here from Colorado. Been lurking here for a while but thought I would introduce myself.
I've owned a couple Jeep's, but only for hardcore offroading. Well, actually my first Jeep started as a daily driver when I was 16, a 1983 Grand Wagoneer. I absolutely loved that thing, whether it was driving it or turning a wrench on it (40/60 % of time respectivly
). Over time it grew taller, wider, tougher, and uglier and became my dedicated trail rig while I replaced it with a 2door coup for daily driving. I had to finally lay it to rest in Moab when the old AMC360 (2nd in that Jeep) blew a piston and the frame had too much rust to salvage. Much of its offroad mods live on in my Dad's awesome '86.
I replaced the Wagoneer with a 93 ZJ intended only for trail duty. 8" long arm suspension, 35" tires, D44 front & Ford 9" rear, locked all around, Atlas 3.8:1 transfer case, and a swapped 5.9 motor. This Jeep still serves me well today and works part time as my winter snow and light towing vehicle.
I'm ready to go back to a Jeep for my daily driver and for light duty outdoor Colorado adventures. I was heavily considering a 2013 Trailhawk, but the CRD and 8spd are calling my name.
Currently planning to order a 2014 Limited, CRD, ORAII, RA4. Really hoping I'll be able to do so without LuxII. I like the light frost interior and originally wanted the black forest green as an homage to my old Wagoneer (also forest green). But after seeing the BFG in person it looks almost black to me unless the sun hits it just right. So color plan B is still a toss up between max steel, true blue, or deep red.
I'm a little bummed there is no retail 14 Trailhawk, that concept at Moab this year was awesome. But I guess some mopar rock rails will have to cover that spread.
