Smile Hello from Japan.

Hi, folks. I'm a new member to the site, though I've had my Grand Cherokee for several years. She was my very first new vehicle when I bought her back in '07. She's actually a WH (not WK), built in Austria and exported to Japan. I wonder how many other WH owners there are here...

Anyway, I've started to have some issues and thought I'd come here for help. Will post soon in the WK forums. I look forward to reading and learning a lot here.

By the way, I'm an American citizen, but have lived in Japan for several years.

See ya' on the boards.

Kento

Are American SUVs common in Japan? Curious if you have any issues getting around and maintaining your ride overseas.

Well, I wrote a long, detailed reply, but somehow lost it. Here's the short version...

They're not common at all. Lexus and Toyota totally rule here.

Regarding maintenance, my mechanic used to be the head mechanic at the Jeep dealer and has since gone independent. I trust him completely. I can't do much work myself since I live in a condo, don't have many tools and it's not very easy to get parts.

Getting around, well, can be interesting. The parking spaces are a bit tight and some of the 'streets' are literally impassable. Generally, though, there are few problems.

Hope that answers your questions.

Re: Hello from Japan.

Did some skiing in Sapporo and visited Tokyo a few years ago, love the place. Have to get back there.
