Talking hello from OZ

Hi guys just a quick hello from Queensland Australia. I have had 4 jeeps over the years with my new purchase being a White diesel WK2 grand Cherokee Laredo. Cost in Oz $AU55000.00 so much cheaper in the US. Already have some issues from day one but will check forums before I post comments about them.

Angry Re: hello from OZ

OK you asked. The following are issues from the start. Poor panel fit, looks like it was put together in the dark by a bunch of children. Drivers seat backrest creeks as you move and base of seat rocks up and down depending on adjustment. Problems with pre-delivery from dealer include; mud flaps not fitted correctly. tow bar fitted however rear bumper not attached correctly after fitting. Had the rear bumper fixed at first service however fix fell apart before I left the dealers. Yes I know this is a jeep thing. I should not expect too much after having 3 other jeeps. The door, bonnet and rear tailgate fit is the most frustrating. Dealer not happy to fix. They say would have to go to panel beater and would not be any better when returned. When I get more time will post some picks.

Wow, not off to a good start mate!

I will say I have noticed massive variations in fit and finish on the Jeeps at my dealer, a situation I'm concerned about, for fear of getting one like you obviously have!

Do you "know" cars? ie, do you feel if a good panel shop was to re-align the panels there would be an improvement to your satisfaction?

The seat issue is a no-brainer, it MUST be fixed.

Seems the dealer fitting the tow bar/flaps etc has some serious staff issues given the poor fitments. There is NO excuse for shoddy work and you're right to DEMAND a fix.

May I ask who the dealer is? PM me if you feel more comfortable.

Re: hello from OZ

bing56, did you have time to view the vehicle before making final payment? Mine is yet to be delivered so I'm hoping to pick up these issues before taking ownership.

I live on the Gold Coast. so has to be "James Frisells". Must say I have had a long relationship with this dealer and am familiar with the excuses. Just have to find the time to break their balls a little bit.

Ahhhhuh. The original owner of mine purchased there too, and after two services none of the factory TSB's were done to it, AND they couldn't find why the battery kept going flat, leaving them stranded.

So, I think the owner sold it because they thought it had a serious issue that would never be resolved, saved me nearly 40k on a new one, 9 months old done 20k

Issue turned out to be a short in the rear seat DVD...... and wasn't hard to diagnose.

So maybe, go elsewhere! lol

Re: hello from OZ

If I were Jeep Australia, I'd be having a hard look at the dealership. And if I were Chrysler Jeep, I'd be having a hard look at Jeep Australia. The guys in Detroit have produced a great car, in my opinion. A shame about the follow-through at the coal face.
