Hello from UK

I bought the wife a 2006 model Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD Limited at the start of the year. Just getting ready to do an oil change and found this site when looking for the oil capacity. Any tips or things I should know about before starting the job?

As it says we are from the UK and she uses the Jeep daily and also for towing the horse trailer. 2 questions that I have at the moment - is the auto box a sealed unit or can you change the ATF at set intervals? and there is a knocking sound on the suspension which is only noticable or certian bumps in the road. It soulds like a worn ball joint or anti roll bar bush at the front left but I can find no play in any of the suspension items when it is up on the ramps. Any ideas?

Cheers

Re: Hello from UK

Welcome mate from Dallas

For the ATF if it's the same transmission as the regular ones then I would not mess with it until the 70K - 100K mile interval and then just drop the transmission pan, change out the filters and fill it back up and measure with a dipstick.

For the suspension the GC's are notorious for their weak suspension components, hence a lot of lads on here have switched out their stock components you can check this thread here for a better idea of what they do ...

Hopefully one of the other CRD guys might chime in for the oil questions as I have no clue ...

welcome to JG!

I believe the fluid change for the atx is about 60k miles.....I did mine at 30k along with the transfer case etc.
