Hey

So, a little more than a year ago I bought the first vehicle that was mine. I've loved Jeeps since I was a kid, so that's what I wanted. I was looking for a WJ, ended up with a WK. It was more expensive than I wanted, it wasn't the color I wanted, it wasn't the interior I wanted, the engine was bigger than I wanted (v8, I was going after v6)... but I'm the kind of person that the salesmen see coming and get excited. I regretted buying it almost immediately, but there wasn't really anything I could do about it. I recently decided I'd try to trade it in, but I still owe more than its value so after test driving some crappy little things and hearing the numbers, it made no sense to spend more money on less car. I kind of learned my lesson about salesmen, too, so that made it easier to just walk away.

Anyway, after all that, I decided that maybe I never gave my Jeep a chance since I was so disappointed in how the sale went, and it wasn't exactly what I wanted. I thought maybe I need to give it a chance, and I will - but I want to make it mine. That is what brought me here. I want to see what I can do to make this Jeep mine. I'm not a car guy, have never really been a car guy, but I'm really good at figuring out just about anything, and know that I can do the things I want to do as long as I have a bit of guidance.

I suppose I should also introduce my Jeep, too.
2005 Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD, 4.7 V8
It's silver with leather and that woodgrain stuff interior.
I'm really not too sure what else to say about it.

So... hopefully this will be some fun.

Re: Hey

Hi Yilduz. The way my first Jeep really endeared itself to m was through its off-road capabilities. I went to meet some family members at a fairly remote deer camp we've owned for years, and both my brother (Honda Pilot) and father (Ford F150) got completely stuck on the muddy access road, while my Cherokee powered right through. My vehicle ended up being our official transport for the entire weekend, and both guys were blown away by the fact that it could really go just about anywhere.

Once you start really exploring what the vehicle is capable of, that might help "make it yours." If you're looking for mods to make it more unique, other people with the V8 tend to start with intake/exhaust, or wheels/tires.

Just please, do me a favor and don't plaster a giant Monster energy drink logo on your back window.

lol! No Monster energy here.

Honestly, that's the REASON I wanted a Jeep. I love hiking in the mountains, and driving through trails. Growing up in Michigan, my grandfather often took me into the woods in his Jeep (And then Dodge Durango) and I've always loved Jeeps. I've always wanted one for that reason. Unfortunately I've been too busy the past year or so to do any real trail driving, but I'm about to go on a grand adventure across the country in a few weeks and I intend to do some exploring.

I'm probably not too interested in intake/exhaust, but wheels might be cool. Also, do not worry about the Monster energy logo. That will certainly not happen. If I were to get any decals at all (and that's a big IF), it'll likely be just a small old english "D" in one of the corners of the back window. Most of what I'm interested in doing, though, is probably the color on the outside (It's silver, I would have preferred dark green or black), and some stuff on the interior like removing the wood grain stuff for something more modern, maybe some new electronics like a built-in mp3 player, stuff like that.

Re: Hey

Welcome to the JG!! Check out the WK section, you should be able to get some good ideas there on how you can make your Jeep more to your liking. Whether it's adding more aggressive tires, LED light upgrades, carbon fiber on the interior, etc, etc. We have a lot of knowledgeable people here!
