So I've joined because my gf has just purchased a WK2 (Blackberry Laredo X 5.7L), and I'm looking to mod this bad boy!!
I'm going to start with a sound system, I believe. I hope to find some info here, though I stumbled upon the forum looking at what wheels would fit, and looking at pictures. I'll start threads for both the system questions, and the exterior/mechanical mods, but I'll go over briefly here what I'm looking at.
The system: I believe I'm going to stick w/the stock HU/NAV, but it's an option to go with the Alpine IVA-W910. Either way, I'll be running an Alpine PXA-H700. Does anyone know if there's a balanced output I can run from the stock processor (which is in the quarter panel, yes?)? I'll be running Adire Audio Extremis 6.8's in the doors, CSS LD25X tweeters in the stock location, and three CSS SDX10's. Going old school on ya w/the Adire! Don't know if you guys remember the Brahma's, and such, but their big deal was the XBL^2 motor. CSS apparently bought the rights to use the motor, when Adire went out of biz. All of the drivers in the car will use this motor. The Brahma's, without doubt, were the best sounding subs I've ever heard, next to the w7, which they were so close to that it was hard to pick one. I'm excited about the 10s. If you look at the f3 in a room, and a sealed box, you'll see that these things will have zero problem with low end extension down to inaudible levels. I'll have 120 watts on each of the tweeters, 250 watts on each of the Extremis mids, and I'm debating on how much power to throw on the subs, but I'll most likely go with a 1000 watt amp, get a 1.34 Ohm load out of the three 10s, and give them about 275 watts each. In a sealed box, 300 watts was able to push the subs past their linear excursion, so I'm fighting my tendency to go overboard w/the power, however, if I end up w/a 2000 watt amp, instead, don't be surprised. I'll be upgrading the alternator, and throwing in an Optima Yellow Top, so it wouldn't be a problem.
On to the exterior mods. I think I'm going to upgrade the rotors/calipers/pads to the srt8 brembos. I'm looking for advice from you guys on whether or not to go w/the srt8 sway bars. And, I'm thinking that I'm going with some replica SRT8 wheels, and stuff some 20x10 + 295/45/20's on it. Though, the 2014 Overland Summit wheels (20x8), are an option for ~$2000. They're chrome, though, and I'm not sure that's the way to go w/the Blackberry. What do you guys think? What color/finish rim? These guys: 20x10 Hyper 2012 13 Jeep SRT8 Grand Cherokee Commander Wheels Rims Tires Package | eBay
are available in gloss black, matte black & the carbon type hyper silver... Tire wise, I'm going to grab some winter tires (Bridgestone Blizzarks), and then worry about summer or all purpose tires in May. I'll be in Colorado, for sure, until May, and may be going to Santa Cruz after that, so I figure it's a good way to go. I haven't read any reviews on all purpose, other than the Continental CrossContact LX, that I was pleased with, knowing that I'm going to be going to the mountains many times between now & May.
Haha, that got pretty detailed, maybe I'll copy and paste this into new threads. Thanks so much!
Look forward to getting to know you guys!
