I've been lurking on here for a while and wanted to get the first post out of the way. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, moved out to AZ about 5 years ago. Work in IT, when I'm not working on the Jeep I'm usually prefishing for an upcoming bass fishing tournament.
96 ZJ I4 4x4 bought in 1998, drove till 2006 handed down to my brother @180k miles (towed my boat never had a trans problem), shipped it back to AZ in 2010, rebuilt it with plans on making a rock crawler but ended up leaving stock and back to life 100% new. Sold it this past Jan @225k miles and wishing I kept it but needed the money for the new home. Especially since the guy who bought it keeps telling me what a steal he got it for and it runs like a champ. Oh well it was a money pit anyway with the plans I had for it (but aren't they all)?
2006 RAM 1500 Hemi - basically my tow vehicle, sold it in 2010 never had a problem with it but wanted an Audi A5. Sort of a pre-mid life crisis as I sold that too before the baby came this summer. Love the 2010 Audi A5, sad to see it go once the baby came.
2012 WK2 Lardeo Steel Blue - bought for the wife since baby was on the way, should have got the Hemi/Tow Package/4x4 but wife talked me into 4x2 and the 3.6L.
Just had the cylinder head replaced at 13k miles wtih the #2 misfire. Seems to be better now but keeping fingers crossed.
Now it's the only car between us so my current plan once she's back to work full time (only part time) is a WK project. Looking for a 2005-2007 Limited V8 4x4 QDII in good condition, <70k miles. Planning on throwing on a super lift or a JBA 4", the usual 4xguard off road stuff and some 33"-34" tires. Looking for something I can do some rock crawling, expedition stuff while still keeping the wife happy in the A/C, child safe on the road and capable of towing the bass boat to/from the lake. Considered an XK but haven't found one I like that's priced well. Basically looking for something that can handle Table Mesa, back road to Crown King, Broken Arrow in Sedona without any damage and still get me home in one piece. 33"'s and armor should fit that bill quite nicely.
Then again if the WK2 diesel's come out I might just trade in the wife's 2012 and find a happy medium with that rig and find something suitable for her.
Anyway long story short I'll be lurking here a bit more until I find a WK and start my project.
