Re: Hi from Denver...

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I'm definitely looking forward to being done over here. I'm deciding between an overland and overland summit; anyone have any recent success on getting one below $44k?

I'm looking primarily at a Hemi with ACC and the goods.

Re: Hi from Denver...

Welcome and thank you for your service.

I owned a TJ that I sold, eventually bought a WK but had wrangler withdrawals, so I got another TJ too.

Re: Hi from Denver...

Thank you Lucas, however I got out of the military in 2004. I'm over here this time as a contractor (Network Engineer). Let's just say the money is better this time around.

What base are you at over there? I have a bunch of friends who work/fly Apaches over there right now. I worked at KAIA for over 2 years as a contractor, the pay is definitely better.

Don't know if you know this but you can purchase one TAX Free if you purchase it through AFFES (forgot how to spell it) while you're deployed. You can usually get some sort of employee pricing AFFES discount as well.

Re: Hi from Denver...

@ philthyphil - I've been at Camp Edgers, Sharana, KAF and finishing up at Spin Boldak. We had a lot of Apaches out of Sharana, they were needed there. Spin B, as it is called, is a FARP for the Army Air Corps and a Stryker Brigade and.

@ JRoll1ns - I've looked into that, but they don't "guarantee" your purchase will be tax free - in the fine print, of course. You have to check when you register your vehicle. So far the pricing they have given me has been worse than I can get via the most basic form of negotiations with a dealer in the States.

Re: Hi from Denver...

@ Lucas J - I've always thanked people since I have been in for their thanks of the military profession. Trust me every person in uniform gets that warm fuzzy when a stranger walks up out of the blue and thanks us for our service. It helps to remind us of why we do what we do. Believe, there are days on active duty where you think your efforts are for naught. The men and women in uniform beside you and the appreciative folks back in the States keep our heads on right.

So far the only mod I can think of is attempting to get the folding euro-mirrors. I read an earlier thread on it and I'm hoping with the Overland+ trim level it will be as simple as swapping the mirrors and the drivers side window/mirror door panel Not sure of the exact name of the part.

If the EVIC needs to be reprogrammed I can get that done pretty easily, my uncle is the GSM at Go Dodge on Arapahoe. I also used to work there when I first got out of the military, most of the service guys/manager are the same since I was there and I can pretty much get whatever I need without any BS thrown in.

I modded my JK heavily before I sold it, and I don't think I will go that far with the JGC anytime soon. An Overland+ with the ORAII package should meet my needs these days, no more rock crawling for me and no need for a snorkel anymore.

I do like the lighted door sills mod and I will probably do that one. I also like the shark-fin antenna mod - that's getting ordered as soon as I know for sure what colour I'm buying; looking for the MG or TB(if I don't get a summit).

Re: Hi from Denver...

I am big supporter of the US Military and unfortunately a majority of this country does not because they confuse military with politics. I don't care if you don't agree with war or why we are "over there," the men and women of the military choose to join and risk their lives to protect our freedoms. So everyone should support them and pray that they all come home safely.

Sounds like you had a nice JK. Your really going to love the WK2 but as you already know, once you start modding it, your not going to stop.

That sucks, they used to have some halfway decent deals when i was in...Ha Ha Ha, when I was in. Now I sound like one of those old timers of coarse the last time I was in the "Stan" was almost 10 years ago. Funny how time flies. Stay safe keep your head down and keep your eye on the prize short timer...going home.
