Howdy from Texas !
Been lurking and educating myself for the past couple of weeks. We are in the throes of buying a vehicle to replace my wife's 2005 Subaru Forester XS LLBean. Its been a fabulous vehicle for 73xxx miles with only one silly issue being the sunroof doesn't close all the way automatically!
We are retired and do long road trips and use the Subie to occasionally tow my BMW R1150RT on a Kendon stand-up trailer. We have a 2011 Kia Optima EX that we use for long driving trips and were looking for an 'all rounder' that would give us good gas mileage plus the ability to tow a trailer and go a little off-road. We went and saw the GC, then drove a Diesel Summit and fell in love with it. Because of the colour choices, we've decided on an Overland 4x4 in Bright White with the Nepal Jeep Brown interior and will add Advanced Tech and ORAII packages to it. We travel to a lot of state and national parks and the GC will now enable us to go places that we've passed up due to their accessibility.
This will be our first Jeep and first American car in almost 30 years as we've bought German, Japanese and Korean. All have been problem free and so we've decided to give Jeep a go. We do have a local dealer but, thanks to recommendations from this board, we will buy from the dealer in Houston, who gave us a great OTD price.
Thanks to all who have posted information about their GC's. We look forward to joining the community in around April. We aim on ordering it in late February as we are selling our Subie privately rather than trade it in.
Looking forward to posting pics of our new wheels when they arrive.
FYI - I have over 50 years of experience working on vehicles (both 2 and 4 wheels) and hope to contribute to JeepGarage as much as possible.
