Intro and a question

Hi all,
New member here.
I just bought a brand new 2015 (yes, there are still a few left on the lots) Grand Cherokee. I'm very excited, as I have wanted one for a couple of years now, and I look forward to learning a lot from this site.

Quick question... what grade gas does my GC take?.
I forgot to ask that important question when I bought it, and I cannot find the information on the manual or online.
The fuel filler says E85, so I know it takes that. But if I just want to stick to E10... what grade should I get?

Thanks!

Re: Intro and a question

They recommend 87 octane. The owners manual states there's no advantage to using a higher grade.

And... stay away from E85.

You say stay away from E85. Why? What if there is a small crisis going on and stations are rationing or running out of gas, as is the situation right now in NC with the Colonial Pipeline Break in AL. I need to get to work (58 mile commute 1 way). If E85 is a viable solution, I may have to use it. I haven't as of yet and trying to understand how I go about it. Does the Jeep program automatically know it has E85 and adjust the system? I don't know. But may need to find out. Flex Fuel is not badged, but a yellow sticker is on the fuel door. Any advise?

Re: Intro and a question

I understand that. It isn't that I will run with it for an extended period of time. But it would be better than not going to work because I have no gas in the tank. The loss of fuel efficiency outweighs the loss of the paycheck any day.
