Just Joined - DPF Issues

Hi, sad to say but my motivation in joining Jeep Garage is beacuse of an issue I'm having with my 2014 WK Grand Cherokee Ltd. Yesterday the DPF message came on and the vehicle is now locked in limp mode, in 4th gear travelling at max of 60 kms. My husband limped all the way home from Brisbane airport to our farm in Clunes, coming off night shift. He was not happy and neither am I. We are waiting for a tow vehicle to take it to Lismore. There must be a simple way to get the vehicle out of limp mode and to get it to regenerate/self clean, without it having to go into the dealer!! Would love some help, I have been reading all the threads on this issue, but no one explains how to get it out of limp mode. Thanks Margie

Re: Just Joined - DPF Issues

Only the dealer can do this, it goes into limp mode because it detects there is a problem (full dpf) that may damage the motor. Sorry to say, but it is a pretty common issue for us in Oz, in a lot of cases the dealer will trigger a manual burn and it won't happen again. In some cases the dpf is faulty and you may experience the issue again, and in this case most of the time, they will replace the entire dpf.

I should also point out that modern diesels with DPFs experience these kinds of issues no matter the make, it isn't just a Jeep issue.

Here's the thread on the dpf issues:
Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Also forgot to mention that there is a TSB out that updates the software on your car to help it perform dpf regeneration more effectively. The dealer may apply that for you too:

It's just been re-released.
