Only the dealer can do this, it goes into limp mode because it detects there is a problem (full dpf) that may damage the motor. Sorry to say, but it is a pretty common issue for us in Oz, in a lot of cases the dealer will trigger a manual burn and it won't happen again. In some cases the dpf is faulty and you may experience the issue again, and in this case most of the time, they will replace the entire dpf.
I should also point out that modern diesels with DPFs experience these kinds of issues no matter the make, it isn't just a Jeep issue.
