Stick with the diesel, absolutely love mine. Don't listen to these nerds who have more (gas) money than sense!!

Re: Just waiting for my toy

We just don't like to prepay for fuel economy and right now diesel is expensive. Most people will never see a return on investment with the diesel especially one with as many teething pains as the ecodiesel.

Re: Just waiting for my toy

I didn't buy it for "return on investment". I bought it because I think it's the best compromise between fuel economy and power. LOVE the torque, happy I don't have to suffer with 17 MPG to get it. Love the low rpm, quiet power.

Truth is, I GET the advantages of the 8, but don't mistakenly feel the diesel doesn't have advantages (no spark plugs, low end torque for example) as well. That's why there are options.

Everyone should try all three and get the one that best suits their own needs and wants. You shouldn't assumes people buy the diesel for cost savings. That simply isn't true for everyone. Though I have to say the diesel wins that battle handily vs the Hemi, tougher argument vs the gas v6.

Oh, and my Ecodiesel is almost a year old with 13,500 miles and ZERO issues to date.

I'm glad you got a good one👍. I'll work on getting some sense, but I believe you're the one who brought up the economy of the situation.

[QUOTE=Jsboening;1170029 one with as many teething pains as the ecodiesel.
[/QUOTE]

The propagation of the misinformation continues to abound. The 3.0 VM diesel has a proven track record in other parts of the world, and is cross utilized on other platforms and other marquees. The "teething pains" here in the U.S. stem the use of the cobbled together DEF system. If one were to remove this add-on from the equation, this and a plethora of additional threads about the same topic would of never been created.

Congrats on the new diesel! I apologize for the highjacking of your thread. The GC is a wonderful platform and I'm sure you'll get many years of satisfaction from it.

You guys are funny. Truth be told just excited to have a diesel for the first time ever. Strange how NA market is so different from other markets which have embraced diesels for decades. I know I will never get my money back but that wasn't the point. I will quickly forget the extra cash spent but will appreciate the savings with every stop at the pump so it will feel as if I am saving money. Love the long range on one tank and the low end torque for off road adventures. To get rear ELSD had to pick from diesel or V8. In SoCal diesel is about 10cent cheaper than 87 these days.

Congrats! I live in SoCal too and I love my Diesel. Not only do you get more MPG but like you said, it is cheaper at the pump! I had the 5.7L Hemi in my 05 JGC a few cars ago and I like the Diesel alot more!
