New 2011 GC Overland Owner

Just stopped in to say hi since I'm new to the site.

We picked up our new 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland this weekend. Overall I'm happy with the vehicle. It's a quality vehicle, seems to be much more of a blend of car/Jeep than was our '08 Liberty. It's very comfortable to drive and it looks great both inside and out. A bit disappointed with some initial teething pains, though:

1. Only one key fob was sent with the vehicle (it was a transfer from another dealership)

2. Minor scuff on the glove compartment

3. Front sensor for Adaptive Cruise / Collision Warning doesn't seem to work. We get the "clean sensor" message, along with the FCW Off light. Looking at the sensor it is clear of debris, looks as clean as I'd expect it to be, but it is loose (can wiggle it with my finger). Should it be flush forward or recessed?

4. The passenger side door handle and map pocket lights... don't. Nice glow on the driver's side, but nothing on the passenger side.

5. Dealer gave us two front driver floor mats instead of a driver side and passenger side for the front.

6. The vehicle has a 430N radio rather than the 730N that we wanted. There was no credit from Chrysler, despite the 730N being a higher-end radio and the dealer never let us know beforehand that we were getting the 430N. Unfortunately we didn't notice it before we drove away.

Most of the above issues can be resolved, although #6 is a bit of a contentious issue at the moment. Curious if anyone has heard of problems #3 or #4 before?

I look forward to getting out and driving this vehicle. We have new winter tires arriving this week (Blizzak DMV1s) so we should be well-equipped to deal with whatever a Canadian winter can throw at us.

Look forward to chatting with many of you in the years to come!

Re: New 2011 GC Overland Owner

Welcome! I hope ya get all that straightened out. Quite a few people do mods so you may find an easy solution to the lighting and key fob issue. I know you can get more keys made and you can order fobs, but you have to get them activated at a dealership as far as I know

Re: New 2011 GC Overland Owner

Thanks to everyone for the welcome.

@SvenskaJeepGuy, I know what you mean. I have mentally kicked myself many times since the day I picked it up. We had planned to go in the next day, but our plans changed and we were able to make it in a day earlier. Problem was it meant we didn't end up getting to see it until about 45 minutes before the dealership closed for the day, and so looking over the vehicle it felt rushed. In hindsight we should have just gone in first thing the next day as planned and take our time looking over the vehicle.

On the bright side, the dealer is being very good about promising to fix the flaws, and - hopefully - nothing is particularly serious. The door illumination may or may not be a quick and easy fix, and I suspect the front sensor just needs to be secured and hopefully it's just a loose wire or something causing it to throw the "clean sensor" message.

@Gus9890, the dealer is emailing (not sure why they don't just call) the original dealer to get them to send the key fob if they have it. Otherwise my dealer will just order a new key at their expense and program it.

On the bright side, the rims and tires came in earlier this week and got them installed last night so now I'm ready for whenever winter decides to arrive.

Safe driving everyone!
