Hi all, I was informed of this site from another Jeep owner in the Australia, I am still trying to work it all out.

I am currently going through the paperwork to order my brand new 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland. any advice on that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, and welcome. There's a huge amount of gold within this site, unfortunately it's located within pages of discussion. There's no "how to" guide.

Probably the primary point I would pass on is "choose your dealer carefully". Jeep Australia can be hard to deal with and you need a dealership with a healthy support ethic. Update your profile with some location details and you'll be overwhelmed with advice regarding dealers in your area.

Secondly, and we'd need a bit of your story and intended use, there's exactly what to order. Overland in a colour "x"... is that all that you need? Personally, I fit accessories after purchase due to LCT implications, however many have ordered their cars to be supplied with dealer extras... and some are still waiting for them despite receiving the car! There are few options really, but due to timing requiements I missed one I that would have been easier for me, and thats ORAII.

Thirdly, the contract. I'd write about a page of special conditions in hindsight, but then I find out my experience was actually quite good in comparison. There have been horror stories, especially to do with "special orders". My advice is try to buy one that's landed, or at least on a ship heading here!

That'll do for now. Come back to use with some of the blanks... you're sure to get help.

Ciao,
Steve

Hi Steve,
I will be ordering the vehicle today, I will be ordering the following... This vehicle will not be available to me till mid March 2014. I am buying the vehicle to be a highway cruiser for long distance as well as the occasional dirt road driving as well as 4wd to camp spots etc.

I have tried to buy one here but because I want the "adventure pack" installed they only install this in the factory and there for none are avaible for sale with this fitted already in Australia or on the next ship due in November.

I am unsure where you are located, I am located in Alice Springs Northern Territory Australia and securing the vehicle through a Adelaide Jeep dealer due to the cost of supply compared to our local dealer.

New, 2014, Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, MY14 CRD 8 Speed Auto

V6 Diesel,
Black leather Trim
Gloss black inserts
Gold plastics ( as shown on page “Graciously Breathtaking”) in catalogue.
Colour to be True Blue Pearl
Off-Road Adventure pack
Tow Bar
Darkest Tint possible with out defecting vehicle
Cargo Matt – Carpet
Tinted Weather shields - slimline
Roof Rails

I also wanted to get a chrome nudge bar fitted but was informed that due to the front sensors on the vehicle I can not get it fitted, only a ECB bullbar that I dont want. I will order the vehicle with out it and will do more research once I receive the car about getting a nudge bar fitted.

Cheers

Brenden

Re: New Aussie Member

Sounds great Brenden. You can't really push for much regarding the delivery date etc as it's a special build. Maybe put in that "the vehicle's E Number is to be supplied as soon as it becomes available"... not that there's much repercussion if they don't!

Given your location, I entirely understand you having all accessories supplied with the car. Have you thought about rubber mats? Guys here are getting them OS because they are a ripoff... hit the dealer for a set in your current deal price

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Steve,
Will do, I was informed with this "E" number people are talking about that you can trace the vehicle etc through the build to the doc when it lands in country? if so how as that would be great. Yeah I will leave the carpet mats in there as well as take the rubber mats out of my current 4wd and put them in there on top again as they are great when off road to catch the crap as you get in :-)

cheers Again

Brenden

Re: New Aussie Member

Well there you go Brenden, I got something from you today. I checked out the front floor of the Grand and realised that a normal set of rubber mats should fit OK... so I'll keep my pennies for an item I really need like some hard rubber in each corner

Cheers,
Steve

Re: New Aussie Member

Cheers peeps

already reading up on some good info on these cars.

"Steve" I went for the RM Williams rubber floor mats as they come with areas all around them that you can easyily cut to shape to suit pretty much any car. see photo below I attached. I have had these in every 4wd I have owned :-)
