I had my 2003 Nissan Murano SE AWD with 155000 miles into the shop and got the news that no car owner wants to hear. It was going cost ~$5k to repair, more than the car was worth. In addition, the inspection was due and I was going on vacation in a week, which required driving ~1000 miles round trip.
I immediately started looking at buying a new/used car. I found that most of the mid-sized SUVs had gone to three rows, which I didn`t need. This narrowed it down to the Murano, Edge, Grand Cherokee, MDX, etc. The only one that I didn`t look at was the 4runner. I decided that I didn`t want another Nissan due to high repair costs, the Edge was crap, and the MDX was too expensive. I also found that there wasn`t a huge drop in value from new cars to 1 to 2 year old cars in my area.
And so.... I am now a proud owner of a new Billet Silver 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited with Nav and single panel sunroof. I didn`t opt for the class IV tow package as I didn`t want or need the suspension upgrade, but I did have them install a hitch and trailer wiring to pull an 18" boat. I also replaced the factory Michelins with Hankock RF10s.
I`m very happy with my new ride.
One thing that I am finding is family and friends are sceptical about the quality of the Jeep until they actually see it and go for a test drive. They are quite impressed with it afterwards...
