New guy from NE Indiana

Hello all, just picked up a 2014 wk2 a couple of weeks ago and may be looking to do a few mods to it and make it even more enjoyable than it already has been.

Its a Laredo base model I'm pretty sure, 3.6l, cloth interior, power liftgate, heated front seats and steering wheel, uconnect 5.

Metallic black exterior color with tan/black interior.

So far all I've done is plasti-dip the wheels. May be looking into dipping the chrome trim rings on the grill and the chrome around the reverse lights. I'd also like to put a backup camera in and possibly nav down the road. Is this possible on the uconnect 5 or would it just be cheaper/easier to swap in a 8.4? My wife's 15 dart has the 8.4AN and I like all the features but don't really need all that extra size.

Thanks for looking guys/gals. Looking forward to meeting you all and making new acquaintances!

I posted up a few pics in an edit, for some reason they are huge though. You'll have to forgive me, I've been out of the BB/forum game for a long time. Sorry.

It would be interesting to see if the 8.4 would work with your setup or if getting a nicer head unit with a backup camera option already situated for it would be a better option. Are you also thinking of changing the stock speakers?

Yeah the jeep does really well in the snow! Love it so far. As for the stock speakers, they still sound pretty good, so unless I could get some sort of deal on them, I would probably just let them ride until I wasn't happy with the quality of the sound anymore. They aren't blown or rattling, yet, lol.

As far as a new HU goes, I kinda like sticking with a stock look, except for exterior mods and even then I don't normally like to go crazy. I like clean installs that look like it was meant to be or was already there, you know?

Re: New guy from NE Indiana

Give it all some thought, I can understand the clean look mindset absolutely. If the type of media you regularly listen to sounds good to you then defiantly go with that. Do you think the 8.4 will fit without a lot of modifications and cost?

Re: New guy from NE Indiana

I think it would fit without many mods as far as shaping or customizing anything to make it fit, but as far as making it work or if it even does work with a vehicle that came stock with a factory 5.0 harness.. I don't know. I believe the 8.4 HU isn't cheap and the correct dash bezel for the 8.4 with the right buttons on it (only eco and trac for me) probably isnt cheap either.

I did cut out some of the interior of a dashboard in my old 2000 Silverado once to fit a double DIN touch screen in there. It was quite a bit of work but was very worth it in the end.

Welcome, nice ride. I spent some time fairly close to you in South Bend. Worked in Niles, MI and got my pilot's license in Mishawaka at Mishawaka Pilot's Club.
