Hello all. I was the original owner of a 2002 WJ that just went to the graveyard with 127K on the odometer. Honestly, it was falling apart and had been for some time. Most recently, the gauges went dead, followed by constantly-lighted ABS and Airbag warning lights. It was dripping oil and wreacked of gas. And this was all after sinking money into it time and time again.
My wife and I were looking at several crossovers and SUVs. We wanted something with some power, but not necessarily needing a V8 (I can tow my race car with my Chevy SUV). I checked out the Mazda CX9, Ford Edge and Explorer, and, of course, the WK2. Needless to say, we ultimately ended up with the Jeep. The decision was based largely on the exterior styling. We purchased a Deep Cherry 2013 GC Laredo X with the V6, black leather, 430N, E, and added Max Floorliner mats, Mopar brushed door sills, and just today had the windows tinted and 3M paint protection added on the front end, mirrors, door edges, and the back door sill area where my three year old son would have undoubtedly scratched the paint to hell.
There just isn't any comparison between the '02 and the '13. It's a nice, refined ride while still feeling like a car.
I will probably be on the lookout for some factory 20" wheels and will add the Mopar pedal covers. That's probably about it for any type of modification.
I'm also the owner of a 600-horse '87 Mustang LX that's presently in the paint shop.
Looking forward to checking out the other WK2s on here and seeing what everone else is doing with theirs.
