Hi everyone, got my first Jeep last week. Bought a used 2002 Grand Cherokee 4.7 HO. 133000km on the clock
Anything to be aware of or look out for at this stage of hopefully a long and happy relationship with my Jeep?

Re: New member

Welcome to the garage.
If you donīt know the service history, i would start with changing all the oils and fluids: engine oil and filter, air filter, differential fluids, T-case fluid and transmission fluid and filters. Also check the coolant to be clean, if any signs of corrosion in there (brownish) i would drain and flush the system and put fresh coolant in there. Have a look at the plugs if they are still ok or need to be changed as well.
Last i would put some fresh fluid in the brake system as well. This fluid should be changed every two years, because of its hygroscopic properties: it absorbs moisture from the air. The moisture will form waterdrops and this will start boiling at 100 °C, forming vapor and making the brake pedal soft or even completely loose brake function.
Have a look at the WJ section, where you will find tons of info on your WJ and can ask any question you want.
Only beware, you will enter there at your own risk. We do not accept any liability when your wallet becomes empty due to unnecessary modifications.
You will soon get to know the guys on there, but take care of Tony TJXJWJ, because if it depends on him, you will wrap your whole jeep in carbon Fibre
