Just dropping by to make my 1st post in the new member forum and introduce myself. I always try and help where I can and share my knowledge( it will be more general knowledge as I am new to Jeep but will do what I can ). I admit to being a bit stubborn at times and enjoy a good "debate" but overall I try and be a good member of any message forum I belong to. I have even been a Moderator on some waterfowl sites and an auto site in the past although I have no desire to do that anymore.
A little about me. I have been a full sized truck guy( Dodge Ram's mostly as I am a MOPAR guy to the core - couple Silverados )since the late 80's/early 90's. This is my 1st Jeep. I am not really into the off roading scene but respect the rights of those who are. I got my 4WD Jeep mostly to help with winter weather here in NH which can be bad at times( last weekend was brutal )and to assist with launching/pulling my duck boat up snow and ice covered boat ramps( Oct-Feb ). Downsized to the Patriot from my 08 HEMI Ram to lower payments and to increase MPG as 12 MPG @$4 a gallon was killing me. It has actually been a very good little SUV for me and has more than doubled the MPG.
My vehicle knowledge. I have pretty much been a vehicle enthusiast since day 1 and was heavily into muscle cars( MOPAR of course )before moving on to trucks. I have an extensive background working in the auto field( aftermarket parts, dealer parts & service, and auto body supply sales )although it was years ago and I no longer do that. I stopped doing auto work and got into the finish carpentry/new home construction field in the mid 90's and did that until 2009 when I was diagnosed with MS which has basically forced me to stop working( and doing most everything I enjoy ). I don't do as much work on my vehicles as I used to due to the illness but I try and do what I can.
I joined the site today after finding it on a search a while ago and seeing all of the excellent Jeep talk and also all the great info on entertainment systems and such( MYGIG ). I hope to become a valued member in time.
2011 Jeep Patriot
2.4L CVT 4WD FDI
No real "mods" to speak of( not a lot out there for a Patriot anyway ). Just some ventvisors, weathertech floor liners, added a class III hitch, and upgraded to 225/65R17 tires( Firestone Destination LE2 )from the OE 215/60R17's. I run Royal Purple fluids where I can and use Royal Purple oil filters.
That's about it I guess. Again, I hope to contribute and become a valued member.
