Hi folks! I have been lurking about for a little bit after purchasing a GC. I have now returned to the Jeep herd after a little hiatus.
So, what did I do wrong? Not pay attention!! We needed to add some washer fluid today so I asked my kid to dump some in when we got home. Not thinking, I just pop the hood and walk away. Then I think.....wait, I better make sure she is putting it in the right spot. Too late! There is now washer fluid in the coolant resi
. On our old car, the washer fluid went in the only "flip up" cap under the hood. She just assumed it went in the first flip cap she saw! No worries to be had, though. I just popped the overflow tube off, attached a piece of scrap hose to it (to reach a bucket) and used my air compressor to pressurize the resi a little. Oh, I had to plug the puke tube, as I call it, so it wouldn't vent out to the atmosphere. We then ran a couple gallons of water through it in the same way to ensure a good rinse. Guess I will be going to get some of that special HOAT stuff on the way home tomorrow. Awesome father daughter time
So far I have enjoyed the info on the site. Good stuff here for sure! My Jeep history:
1975 DJ (yes, a mail jeep)
1981 CJ 7
And now I keep it going with the WK2 Overland Hemi!
Looking forward to learning more. This is by far the most complex Jeep I have ever owned!
