Hello, everyone. We are looking to become owners of a 4 door wrangler in the near future. I had hoped that Jeep would come out with a real replacement for our present Jeep, a Lapis blue 1998 cherokee but instead they came out with a copy of the Japanese suv instead. We had looked at the wrangler a few years ago but decided to wait on the cherokee because the wrangler was a little longer than we needed and my wife hated the blocked view out the rear due to the spare. We are now back to the wrangler and I can satisfy my wife's concern about the blocked rear view by removing the spare and carrier, keeping the spare in the back of the vehicle since we always have the rear seats folded.
We mainly use the jeep s a closed truck for camping, fishing and towing the boat with some off road use. Our off road trips are fewer than in the past since we like to go alone and I am now pushing 80, so no longer can get us out of a jam as easily as when we were young! I have been enjoying many of the comments by the members and have learned quite a bit about the vehicle that will be of benefit to us in negotiating a price and getting the gear we need to make it most useful to us. We really like still being able to get a jeep without power locks and windows, although I will miss my power mirrors when backing the boat down a steep winding launch ramp.
