New Member - Looking at ordering a 2017 JGC Overland 4x4 diesel to replace a 2012 Passat TDI SEL that I'm giving back to VW for the buyout/settlement
Just waiting for the order bank to open up

Welcome to Jeep Garage! I owned an older 1980s diesel VW that smoked like the dickens. That was my first diesel. When VW and Audi came out with the common rail TDIs in the 1990s, I test drove one and came away very impressed. But I didn't need a car then and so I looked for them out on the road - they stayed clean, no sooty rear ends anymore! And then other makes came out with their take on the CRD and urea injection.

If the Grand Cherokee is the type of vehicle you want, then I think you will love the diesel rig. I had some teething problems with my 2014, but when Jeep bought mine back I wanted another CRD. I really love this rig, for all that it does. I put 40,000 on my 2014, and I now have 4,000 on my 2016. I'm a happy owner. If you want to see my 2014 teething pains history, search for the threads I started, especially about P20EE, and about the replacement. Most owners by far are trouble-free but some like me had some bad luck. I count myself fortunate that the lemon law protected me.

Good luck, let us know what you get, and again, welcome!
