Red face New Member Saying Hello

I just bought a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited a couple of months ago. It ran good but now it sits. After spending $$$ to change spark plugs, flushing out throttle body & changing fuel filter, I have a "wrong key" light & vehicle will not start. They tell me the rfid chip in the key has gone awry. I also used my secondary key & it's bad too. So I have been told main rfid key module is bad. Anybody got any suggestions where to go from here & YES I am a girl & YES I work on my own vehicle...LoL

Re: New Member Saying Hello

Welcome to the garage.
Even with a wrong key or a key which is not recognized, the engine should start, but will cut out after 3 seconds. Is this what happens?
If it even doesn´t run for a few seconds, then most probably the problem is not with the SKIM module (sentry key immobilzer module)
Just for trouble shooting, do power windows and power locks work ok?
Do the fuel and volt gauge indicate normally, or are both at 0?

The Wrong Key Light stays on. I have two keys & it appears for both of them. It turns over & all gauges are fine (not on "0"). Thanks for your reply & Welcome! Much Appreciated!

Re: New Member Saying Hello

When you do the keydance, does any fault code show up? (ignition switch off/run three times and leave in run at third time. Odometer will show DONE when no faults stored, or the fault code(s).
As told before, even without reckognizing a good key, the engine should still start, but will shut down after some seconds. If it even doesn´t start, something else is going on, most probably related to the PCM.
Did you check all the fuses, especially those from the PCM? It are fuses # 6, #19 and #26 in the PDC under the hood. If all ok, swap the auto shutdown relay with the transmission control relay, also both in the PDC.
