New member w/the dying Grand Cherokee/FIXED
After 4 months and $800.00+ I have fixed my GC. I have had the notorious dying Jeep. I have only twice in my 58 yrs taken a vehicle to a shop for repair. One because I didn't have the time to replace a gasket on my wife's van, the second was the Jeep.
When it first started stalling, I determined it to be a faulty PCM. No fix. After weeks of chasing my tail I took it to a shop. Bad PCM. Under warranty so it was replaced. Worked for about a day. Bad #1 injector driver, replaced the PCM again (still under warranty). Worked for approximately 4 hours. Started chasing wiring and replacing ends. Got better, would last 4 1/2 hrs. Determined alternator was not charging at higher RPM's and replaced it. Worked for about 8hrs and then returned to random 20 min to 4 hrs. Decided to try adding a ground strap from negative post to firewall. Wa La it worked for 3 days with no stalls. Day 4 for stalled but, was able to start back up immediately. No more issues for the last 2 weeks. Ordered and installed new wire harness for the battery yesterday and it's running better than it has in the last couple of years. Hoping I have found the cure.
