Re: New Member with auto trans shifting problems

Welcome to the garage.
Not familiar with the liberty, which transmission does it have?
Since you have a check engine light, you will need to have it scanned to see which fault code is set. You could do the key dance, but most probably will only get the P0700 code, which is a general transmission problem code. The TCM will need to be scanned to get the code which is set there and go from there.
For the keydance, do the following: ignition switch off/run three times and at the third time, leave it in run. The odometer will show DONE when no fault set, or a fault code(s).

Re: New Member with auto trans shifting problems

Just checked google, and it can have the 42RLE transmission, or the 5-45RFE. You can look at the PCM to see which transmission you have: 4 connector PCM should have the 42RLE (integrated TCM in the PCM), 3 connector PCM should have the 5-45RFE (and separate TCM)

Thank you to all. The codes show we likely have solenoid problems.

Re: New Member with auto trans shifting problems

I forgot the code numbers. The tech at O'Reilly's looked them up and showed the results to me,
Speed sensing,
4th gear speed fault
one other but I forgot.
