New Member with problems

Hello all
I have a 2006 3.7l Jeep Liberty. At the current time it has a starting and running problem. It turns over but only starts after several attempts and then quickly stalls out. It has a delay in acceleration, when I am able to get it go without immediately stalling out. I have changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, map sensor, crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, throttle position sensor, cleaned the throttle body, changed the plugs, changed the fuel injector O-rings, all to no avail. I am now thinking it may be the Catalytic converters. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Re: New Member with problems

Welcome to the garage.
Did you check the fuel pressure at the rail? You don´t need to put a gauge on it, just pressing the schräder valve and checking if fuel under pressure comes out should be enough for now. Catch any spilled fuel with a rag.
If this is ok, it well could be a plugged converter. Don´t know how the exhaust is made by the Liberty, but i would remove the part with the converter and run it without. Makes noise, but you can see if it will start and run normally, before spening more money on it.

Unhappy Re: New Member with problems

Yes I have checked the fuel rail pressure,. I also checked the injectors and changed the O-rings. I will check it again but pretty sure the pressure is good. The 06 Liberty has the dual Cats with O2 sensors above and below them. Am I correct in assuming that the O2 sensors don't effect the performance till after warm up? I will do as you advise and try running with cats disconnected. ..Thanks for responding.
