Long time GM enthusiast with catholic car tastes but new WK2 owner in Orlando.
Needed a new multi-person tow car since TranSport is getting elderly & Vixen is hard to park. Looked at the new General Motors company offerings but boring. Looked at many 2.3-2.5 liter minis, both N/A and boosted but all seemed tinny. LF suggested I try a Jeep. Compass nope, Liberty MOS, then the salesman brought around a Laredo (suspect he knew I do not care for V-8s except in Toy, everything else other than scooter is a 6). WOW.
Minimal chrome, 4 wheel independant suspension, 4wdb, DOHC, VVT. FI, dual zone a/c, towing package, all the right stuff. Drove around the block and for a GALB, handled very nicely.
Went home and did research, more I saw, the more it suited me. Was end of month so after a little arm twisting got a very good deal on that same one.
Usually takes me about a year to get a car the way I want it and then tend to keep for decades but this seems to need very little. (Need a Laredo X flash so I can display tire pressures in EVIC - really dumb omission). Already added factory sill plates and side steps
(frequent passenger is height impaired).
Major difficulty is a lack of a factory service manual or even one from Haynes/Clymer/Motor or online for any WK2 but am working that also.
So hello from Orlando where rust must be imported.
