Just purchased a new to me 2008 WK Overland w/ 15K miles on the East Coast. Being delivered to TX as we speak. Should be here before the end of the week.

Wanted a 08 CRD, but too late to get one new. Good used ones hard to come by and price premium on CRD used was higher than when new...

First time purchasing a used car sight unseen. Hope no surprises to give me any headaches or regrets.

This Jeep will be a daily driver for the wifey and be towed 4 wheels down behind our motorhome.

Looking forward to picking up and contributing new ideas off this forum.

Long time since I had my first Jeep, a 1993 Grand Cheokee Limited way back when they first came out...Loved the GC then, the 08 will have some big expectations to live up to.

Rgds,

Kevin

Congratz also! Do the miles count up as you pull it? Or will it be on a trailer? You should also keep the front covered with something also.
Miles won't be added as the transfer case will be in neutral for 4 wheels down towing. The only challenge is to log the miles while in tow, as other components will still be wearing regardless if its in tow or under its own power (i.e. tires, etc). I will still need to keep up with regular maintenance items and fluid replacements at the appropriate intervals.

Welcome to JG. Congrats onyour purchase. Please post some pics after you get it.
As for towing, just read the owners manual and it will tell you how to set up the transfer case/trans for towing. Yes, cover the front of the Jeep or get one of those bug rubber flaps on your tow vehicle to stop rocks from hitting the front of the Jeep.
I have a flap under the motorcoach running the full width, so that should reduce almost all the rocks and debris that the coach wheels could pick up.

congrats on the new jeep and welcome! do you remember what state the jeep came from on the east coast?
Maryland. It was out there one winter. I was concerned on the salting and snow there, but had photos of the undercarriage / chassis taken to see if there was any rust or corrosion. Looked clean from the photos, but I haven't seen it in person.

Below is one of the dealer pics.

I've already started to hit some of the Jeep & Mopar websites to order a few items for it already (Cabin microfilter, molded mudflaps, etc).

Wifey wants to have the Kicker audio upgrade added, as the stock Jeep audio will be a step down from her current car... That one is on the top of the list...pending other mods that have priority.

I must say - I am really impressed with the aftermarket / Mopar designed/approved parts you can get for the GC. CAI, Performance Exhaust, Kicker audio, etc. It's great!

Look forward modifying the GC over time. It will keep it interesting!

Rgds,

Kevin

Best of luck to you on your trip and welcome to the Garage.

Me being me, I would say to at least rent a flat trailer to tow your new baby and to avoid ANY debris from your Coach. I know you have that apron along the back, but your Coach can still kick up through it to a degree.

Again, glad to have ya!

welcome to the Garage Kevin! The Overlands are def. beauties!

The Mopar intake is cool looking...but is def. a hot air intake. Look into the Bwoody True CAI for that beast.
