Oil level shows 2" high on dipstick

I recently bought a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7L.

I noticed that the end of the dipstick appeared to be broken off as it did not show any fill levels. I ordered a replacement new one which does have the same part number. However, it sowed the oil level about 2 inches above the upper fill line on the dipstick. I had the oil changed and after adding 5 liters oil, the level is still 2" high on the dipstick. Online owners manual says oil capacity is 5.7L. Oil pan has no indication of any denting or damage.

I haven't seen any similar issues on this forum. Any advice?

Thank you

What is the p/n on the dipstick? should be 53021749Ax (x=D-F)
does the dipstick tube look like all the other 2006 4.7Ls?

Tomk

Part number of the original and the auto parts store replacement ordered for me is 05037767AA. Guess they ordered it from the broken part number rather than looking up the proper part online. I made a trip to the dealership today and confirmed that the part number should be 53021749 as you stated. They say mine is for the 6.1L engine?? 40 days for a replacement. I am headed back to the USA from the UAE and will pick it up for myself there.

I will try to find another Jeep in the mean time and see if I can figure out the proper levels scratched into my incorrect part and add more oil (0.7L) until I can get the proper part number in place.

Thanks
