old new member first post

Hello everybody, I've been a member for a while but have never posted. I have a 2001 GC Limited that I rebuilt the engine about 25k miles ago. It runs fantastically except for one intermittant problem. Once in a while if you park it and then go to start it say about 15 minutes later, it will start and idle fine but as soon as you apply the brakes it shakes and acts like it wants to stall. It has never stalled and when you let off the brake and reapply the brake it will idle fine. It also presents the same problem if you come off the freeway and stop for a light. I replaced a cracked hose at the power booster thinking that I had found the problem but that did not fix the problem. If you pull the PB CK valve the booster always has vacuum (after setting overnight) It did throw a code the other day for a MAP but the engine ran fine. I checked the sensor with my scan tool and it was working normally. I'm thinking a new sensor or possibly a PCV valve. Has anybody had a similar problem and found something else as a cure? The Jeep has 183K miles on it. Thanks.

Re: old new member first post

Welcome to the garage.
Which engine?
Eventhough i would not suspect the PCV valve, if it was not changed before, i would do it now. Especially for the 4.7L engine, where the crankcase ventilation is so important to keep the oil from forming sludge.
The MAP sensor could be a possibility. I would first check the IAC stepper motor plunjer for being dirty. If clean, than i would change the MAP sensor. What was the code from the sensor?
