Prospective buyer

My wife and I had a '12 GC Overland but traded it in due to numerous problems and a dumb as heck dealership. We got a '13 LTZ Tahoe (had an 08 before the GC) and we have missed the Jeep ever since. It was the smoothest, quietest riding thing we have ever had. Albeit, too small for us. So is the Tahoe. But I'm not a fan of the Durango. Right now we are contemplating a loaded up 4x4 Hemi Overland ('14 of course). Hopefully will be a Jeep owner soon!

I don't really want to start a new thread so thought I'd ask it here. What's the break in period? I'm going 800 mi to visit family and pick up the GC. Getting the Hemi if that helps. Is it safe to do 85mph? And it's recommended that I avoid cruise control, manual or any other mode than just drive. Correct? As soon as I pick it up it's got about 800mi home instantly in one day. I did it with our last jeep and it dumped a bunch of antifreeze when I got home.

So today I test drove both, 2014 GC Overland and 2014 Durango Citadel. Keep in mind I went into this already biased towards the GC. I appreciate the Durango and what it has to offer. Space is a big thing for us, two children 20 months and 3 months. My wife and I also frequently carry one additional passenger being my niece or my mother. To be honest I did not like the Durango. Never have. My wife doesn't like the way they looked and she's always had a soft spot for GC's. That aside, the one thing that killed me was the awkward looking center stack and the plastic dash on the Citadel. It didn't feel premium, and that just corresponded with the rest of my opinion of the Dodge brand. It's a great whip but the GC had me won. The only bad thing is, we will not purchase from where we test drove, they expect you to pay above msrp. Hah. No. And our trade was valued at $39,000. I'm working with another dealer who has valued my trade 9k more and about 6k off of the Jeep. It's just 800mi away. But worth it! So hopefully after thanksgiving we will be in a jeep.
