Reliability Jeep Grand Cherokee trading in my WRX

I have been looking at a limited and placed a deposit on GC Limited. I went to pick up the Jeep, however the delear could not deliver the vehicle because a recall was issued for a transmission solenoid. All my paper work had been completed . I was about to turn over my keys to the WRX. I'm now having 2nd thoughts. $39000.00 out the door .

I'm concerned about reliability. Did not even pick up my Jeep 2016 and there is a recall.

Re: Reliability Jeep Grand Cherokee trading in my WRX

everybody is getting recalls these days.. often for things that would have just been a service bulletin in the past.

This particular recall is apparently:
Quote:
SUMMARY:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured May 15, 2015 to February 19, 2016. The brake transmission shift interlock solenoid may have a loose electrical connection which could result in a loss of solenoid function.

CONSEQUENCE:

If the solenoid loses function, the transmission may lock in the Park or Neutral position when the vehicle comes to a stop, possibly rendering the vehicle disabled in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.

REMEDY:

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shifter assembly, free of charge. The recall began on May 27, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S28.
Interesting that this involves the "New" shifter.. so we've gone from "can't get it into park" to "can't get it out of park"
