Talking Traded the Cruiser on a Jeep

After much deliberation I finally bought a Jeep. I was a landcruiser guy for over 20 years so you can imagine my apprehension changing loyalties. The jeep just kept coming out on top when all things are considered.

I needed a vehicle with a good towing ability, good off-road ability, economical, good road manners and something the wife liked for a reasonable price.

I am just about to click over 5,000 kms and I still smile every time I get in it. It is comfortable, tows like a dream has great range per tank full. Besides that it is a good looking vehicle, so much so that the wife will not let me put a bull bar on it because it would spoil the look.

So far the only thing that I am having problems with is that messaging is greyed out, but it doesn't worry me so I will asked the service guys next service.

Look forward to getting opinions on all terrain tyres on some of the other threads and seeing if there is a way to enable the rear view camera in forward gears without installing anything.

Cheers

As a new user I find this site very useful. I just took the new 2014 Grand Cherokee to Fraser Island and it performed like a dream !!! Coming from a 2000 nissan Pathfinder I found the GC using 'sand mode' worked brilliantly in the deep soft sand. All I need now is the reversing camera (waiting for 3 months).

Hi moxie, did you need to take the front dam off before hitting the sand? I remember the sand could be deep at times.

I did take the dams off but this was a minor hassle (4 plugs on each side to remove each one). Not sure it made much difference as these do flex easily. Most of the sand contact was with the control arms or the under-carriage. The off-road tourist buses leave deep trenches.

I am saving up for some underbody protection as I don't have much faith in that fibrous front cover doing much. Hearing your description of Fraser makes me want a return trip.
