Transfer case NV242LD vs NV242HD

Looking for information on the NV242LD and NV242HD transfer cases.

Do the suffixes LD and HD indicate Light Duty and Heavy Duty?

Are these two units interchangeable? The oil fill capacity of the NV242LD is 2.85 pints while the NV242HD is 6.5 pints. The different fill capacities seem to indicate that the NV242HD is a physically larger unit.
