Whining when accelerating

I'm new to the Jeep community, I just recently purchased a 2001 wrangler TJ. I'm not sure the sounds and clicks it is suppose to have, but when I accelerate there is a whining sound. It's a manual transmission and just had the clutch replaced. Should the whining concern me or is it normal?

Re: Whining when accelerating

Hi, welcome aboard! I'm no expert but I suppose it would depend on how loud the noise is as to wether it's serious or not and if it's only apparent in certain gears, as it's a manual transmission, or wether it's a constant noise may be an indication of where it's coming from, if it's constant I would hazard a guess that it may be coming from one of the differentials, you may get a more expert opinion if you pose the question in the troubleshooting section, best of luck to you, hope you get to the bottom of it!

Re: Whining when accelerating

.....Just a thought, I wonder if it made this noise before the clutch was replaced? That may throw up a few clues, i'm thinking along the lines of thrust bearing, gearbox oil level, propshaft unbalanced due to not being replaced exactly in the position it came out from etc....?

Re: Whining when accelerating

You're welcome! As I said i'm not an expert mechanic and I may be barking up the wrong tree so to speak but it's worth checking I think, best wishes.
