the m105 is step 1 in a paint correction(after wash/strip and clay bar of course)

Then I would recommend the m205. I have a M105/205 paint correction on here somewhere

Re: March Specials at DetailedImage.com

i c, so are there any drawbacks of using a compound, like swirlmarks. I think the ultra cut compound is like sandpaper for your paint in that it smooths the surface particularly scratches. Cant this remove part of the clearcoat though or does it not work that way.

Re: March Specials at DetailedImage.com

hmm alright, I want to do a similar paint correction process that you did in the future, I just want to understand how the products work first. I just ordered some or the poorboys wheel sealant, should be here tomorow.

All good questions. How much product you need varies on how much surface area you are buffing but I estimate 2 - 4 ounces max is needed for a Jeep. Therefore 1x 32oz bottle should get you about 8 - 16 details. The M105 is a medium to heavy cutting polish that finishes down as well as a light to medium polish. This means you get excellent cutting power to safely remove the swirls, while it finishes down very well. I still recommend following it up with the M205 though just to be sure you are getting optimal results. These polishes are totally safe and pretty easy to use. It does remove ultra fine imperfections in the paint, but it's nowhere near as aggressive as sandpaper. At the micro-scopic level your paint has lots of peaks and valleys from micro-scratches. These polishes help smooth out the edges of these micro-scratches so they look and feel smooth again at the microscopic level. The polishes do not just strip off a layer of clear coat, it's really not even possible. Again they are completely safe for anyone to use and pose no risk to clear coat. The only way it can be potentially harmful is if you are really aggressive with the speed, pad and pressure from a high speed rotary buffer. However if you are using a high speed rotary buffer with care it's again totally safe. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Re: March Specials at DetailedImage.com

i would try 105 with a white pad first and if the imperfections aren't gone, then step up to an orange pad.
