05 WK Limited Build Thread

Not sure if I'm in the right place or doing this correctly, but here it goes.

I recently (about 2 weeks ago) purchased a 05 Wk limited really nice looking and decided to make a built thread for this one since I did not make one for the wifes Xk or my prevous WK.

So here we go:
1st I purchased a set of unused 2014 Rubicon wheel/tire takeoffs (new style) brand new, then I ordered a 3.5 lift with Rusty's spacers. I started to do the install on the lift on Saturday but when it came to remove the bolt from the strut fork at the bottom the darn thing was turning with the bushing still stuck to it, so I had to cut the fork (since I wasn't going to use it) then after a little struggling with the bushing and bolt it finally came out. Since no local parts store had it it took 2 days before I got it and try to install it. long story short I finally installed the front and rear spacers and mounted the wheels/tires late (11:30pm ) last night not sure if the neighbors liked that idea, but o well the jeep now looks awesome.

I will take pictures and upload if possible.
Will keep updating as I go.

Re: 05 WK Limited Build Thread

Here is a quick picture I took Saturday after a day of driving around .

I did take some pictures of the install and the messed up bushing that was the reason it took me a little longer to complete.

I'll add several shots of the new look, later this week. I loved the way it looks and my wife is just as excited to take it out to the beach to cruise around in the sand
Let me konw what you guys think so far.

thanks

Re: 05 WK Limited Build Thread

Decided to change the wheels to the JK moab surfaced finish and I liked it better. Looks a lot cleaner and when clean, those wheels shine really nice. Will post pics later....
Also, looking to add a roof rack with an led lightbar....maybe for Christmas!

Re: 05 WK Limited Build Thread

Decided to modify the grill on the jeep this weekend. The kidos loved that idea since they would get a chance to play with my tools and run around outside . Here are some pics I took... The before, the in between and the end result

Re: 05 WK Limited Build Thread

Also, took my boys for a surprise outing at the beach, they loved it since we were all over the sand dunes and they had the chance to take videos of the jeep going up and passing different obstacles. Take a look at the pics

Note the moab wheels, I decided that the other wheels didnt fit to well with my liking so I sold those and bought me this machined set, when clean they shine up pretty good!

Did the take off wheels fit without spacers? Did they rub? Why did you decide to remove them? I'd like to buy a set and put them on with one of the 3.5" clevis fork lifts.

Re: 05 WK Limited Build Thread

I really just didn't like the look, I've seen these wheels on grey Wk's and they look nice, but just wasn't liking the look on mine because of the color. I got these moabs on a really good deal and moved on them, I really like the look better. After I installed the lift, I did put on the wheel spacers because of the size of the tires, they were rubbing inside , I just kept the same spacers and everything has worked out ok with no issues.
If you do decide to get a set, you will have to get wheel spacers, because of the tire size.
