I Have a 1999 Grand cherokee and I want to get a 2" lift. Do i absolutly have to get new shocks or can i get just the pucks and stay with my same shocks?

Re: 2" Lift question.

also it seems as though some kits come with just 4 pucks (2 front and 2 rear) example: http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...y_Code=wj_kits
and others come with 4 pucks and then all these screws and bolts example: http://www.teraflex.biz/products/wj-...get-boost.html

What is the difference? If i buy the one without the bolts will i have to buy them seperatly

Re: 2" Lift question.

the screws and bolts are a transfer case drop... there is a cross member under your transfer case, attachd by 4 bolts, those spacers go between the transfer case and the unibody "frame" rail.

this means....

#1 the second kit is more thurough and will help avoid and drive line problems
#2 with a 2" kit... you shouldn't have any drive line problems, but.. the Xfer case drop is an easy install, and a nice insurance policy BUT it decreases your under body clearance when offroading.

honestly, i say just either do the rustys, look at "rubicon express" or find "daystar" pucks... all that extra stuff is not necessary/more money for a 2" boost.

Re: 2" Lift question.

You will have very limited offroad droop or flex. I would not do it. You can get shocks as cheap as $35 each from places like rustys off road and doestch tech 3000s from Rubicon express. Shocks can be had cheap, do it the right way the first time and you will be happier in the end.

I agree, but at what point do you just spring for the spring set up for 3 or 4"

Re: 2" Lift question.

This is true but i see the point of a 2".

It adds the look and height for bigger tires for those new to lifts or those that just want the look. and it does not require alot of other parts or mods, and its easy to install.

3 or 4" kits then you get in to big money and lots of extras needed.

If i ever lifted the wk id only do a 2" and 31s and it would be just for the looks, my wk will never be wheeled.

Re: 2" Lift question.

I was looking at this 2" lift, I have read some reviews and it does not sound bad and it can fit the tire size I want, 265/70/17

Re: 2" Lift question.

all you need is the spacers. I got the 2" skyjackers before i decided to go with a 6", and all i did was put in the spacers, didn't do anything to the shocks or t-case or anything until i went up to 6"

Re: 2" Lift question.

I would replace the shocks if you have more than 40,000 miles on them. I'd also get an adjustable trackbar too.
