no but the bigger the tires the more power you want from your engine. more power = less stress on the motor

its like anything else - the bigger the tires the more stress on the axles and the tranny and bla bla bla.

you beef those up when you beef up your tires right? why ignore the engine?

bigger tires rob you of power on the road as well. I'm running the gen2 4.7 pushing 305hp in my WK w/ 33" KM2's

My former grand had the gen1 4.7 pushing like 235 or something like that w/ stock tires. To me they feel pretty close to the same speed.

AEV would not have put so much work into making a 5.7 and 6.1 HEMI kit for the JK and TJ if it didn't server a purpose.

so do you NEED it? NO

is it nice to have? HELL YEA!

Re: 426 HEMI Jeep "Orange Crush"

The reality is that jeep will NEVER see any rocks much less be used for climbing them. That being said, I think you would need more torque that horsepower to turn the larger wheels/tires. Changing out the gears will help also. That much power in that jeep is redundant. It is great for the wow and oooh aaaah factor.

agreed - that's a show truck - no doubt about that. I do know there are 6.1 JK's out there that see plenty of trail time.

and of course there are plenty of other things to consider when running larger tires - gears being 1 of the most important for a ton of reasons, not just torque.

what i don't agree with is that the power is redundant. F a 6 cyl especially the crapy 3.8 they are pawning off in those JK's. thats the #1 reason i went WK instead. had i had 60k to spend instead of 40 - i'd be pushing a 6.1 JK myself. All in good time though.

well - to each his own i guess

Of course they wanted to make money. The point is it makes money for a reason. They wouldn't make something that doesn't sell.

That JK has the same rear end that the SRT8 has. D44 rear.

I think the jeep is ok, the wheels are gay. its lifted way to high for my likes but its still cool.
