Adding skid plates for 2016 WK2: Do I go with Jeep's ORA-II plates?

I will add skid plates to my 2016 Grand Cherokee (Diesel, if it matters). It does not have the ORA-II (Off Road Adventure 2) package but does have the rear ELSD.

What skid plates do the offroad folks with WK2s here recommend? Links helpful.

For the ORA-II package it's a bit of a mystery. My dealer says there are three but on Jeep.com when you build a 2016, adding the ORA-II package lists 5 items not 3. Why the difference?

Dealership's list:
► Front Axle Skid Plate, part # 82211995, $193.00
► Fuel Tank Skid Plate, part # 82211999, $217.00
► Transfer Case Skid Plate, part # 82211994AB, $101.00

Jeep.com says:
► Front Suspension Skid Plate
► Fuel Tank Skid Plate Shield
► Skid Plate Group (whatever that is)
► Transfer Case Skid Plate
► Underbody Skid Plate

Why aren't the lists the same for ORA-II?

Two of the part numbers contain two skids each. Three part numbers equals five skids is correct

Back in 2015 the skid plate option on our Summit listed the four you have mentioned. The line item option cost was $295.00. If you are ordering, that is a bargain compared to $511.00 purchasing separately after purchase. Looking at the under body of our WK2 they provide great protection to components. Money well spent!

I ordered them and did the install myself on my summit about two years ago and that was how they came. The GC has two gas tanks so those come together and I don't remember off hand which other two were grouped together. The install is fairly easy a floor jack can help you steady the gas tank skids as they are the more awkward ones to work with. but they all just bolt up fairly quick.

And their $770 combo package:

Re: Adding skid plates for 2016 WK2: Do I go with Jeep's ORA-II plates?

The Jeep ORA-II skid plates came in. Dealership to install next Wed (parts & labor paid by Jeep from my lemon law replacement case).

For reference here are pics.

All 3 kits (5 plates); my flip-flops are for scale.

Near: Front Skid Plate, 1 piece
Medium: Transfer Case Skid Plate, 2 pcs
Far: Fuel Tank Skid Plate, 2 pieces

Again, my flip-flops are there for scale.

Front Skid Plate - comes in a bag

Re: Adding skid plates for 2016 WK2: Do I go with Jeep's ORA-II plates?

Be advised, one of the transfer case skid plates does not fit the 2016 CRD, even though it is the part shown in Jeep's system for the 2016. Of the two pieces shown in the above picture, the larger one does not fit. The 2016 has a different bolt pattern. The smaller piece fits.

Now I have to solve this problem - unprotected transfer case. My dealer is looking into it to see if the wrong part # is in their parts system for the 2016. Note that these part #s aboce do fit the 2014 CRDs.

Re: Adding skid plates for 2016 WK2: Do I go with Jeep's ORA-II plates?

Hi echo7tango
this is great info, thanks!
I'm looking to do the same thing on our 2016 JGC Limited 75th Anniversary
4x4. We have tow package and 20" stock wheels. We did not opt for ORA2 but would like to add skid plates.

So, you state that the larger transfer skid does not fit the 2016 CRD. What is CRD ?

Also, anybody know what percentage the accessories are marked up?

Thx!
