Re: ATTENTION:Offroad Jeepers! Opinions needed for this forum!

2015 Jeep GC Wk2 - After removing that feeble lower air dam, I just installed Chief's Lower Front Guard, Sump Protection Plate and Transmission Protection Plate. Had to take off those other "skid plates" that were plastic (!). Installation took about 6 hours. They are pricey but now I am able to off-road without fear of tearing up my new ride. Chief owner, Bill, was with me all the way and was a tremendous help. I recommend these products. Took about a week to get with expedited shipping (slow boat would have taken 2-3 months), so, for me the extra cost was worth it. Too bad we have to do this to protect what is supposed to be and off-road capable vehicle, but it is what it is. (Now I'm dealing with dealer regarding the software update to protect from hackers!)
PS: Bill says you don't have to leave the factory plastic air dam, but I like the look. If I knew how to get a photo here I'd do it, but ....
Good luck to us all.

Thanks for the reply. I kind of figured the Chief Products Armor was the only real option. I expect I'll add them at some point...but I sure hope Bill figures out a way to get them to the US to save some of the shipping from down-under.

In the near term I figure I'll look into the RRO leveling kit (when I need an alignment) to get another inch or so.

I guess I'm just a little frustrated that I have the factory ORA skids and it looks like as soon as I get in a tough spot, I'll smash up the front plastic sump cover (assuming I actually take off the lower air dam.) I point this out because I'm an more of an "accidental" off-roader than "on-purpose". I hunt and fish a lot and go to unscouted places, that may or may not be tough terrain. Just a little venting...

You guys in the States will be happy to know that the arse has fallen out of the Aussie dollar. Not long ago it was about parity but now it's worth only about 73 USD. My plastic belly pan ripped off just driving on sand a bit too hard. I now have the Chief products. I've taken the front air-dam off so many times the lugs on the side have break off. Anyway, it is now so damaged I'm not using it anymore.
